2 Wins Away

// November 30th, 2007 // No Comments » // Thoughts

Kansas fans are still moping around the Kansas City metro area. Grumbling about anything they can to try and excuse away the big loss. Poor Johnson County folks. Didn’t know what it sounded like to actually get loud for a football team until they came to Arrowhead and watched Mizzou fans.

Another big one against Oklahoma in San Antonio. I can’t say anything about this game that hasn’t been rehashed a million times but I am really looking forward to the whole thing. It is really tough to put all of this in perspective. It is such a memorable time, I just hope we can keep it going…

Football aside…

-The other day I was a little burnt out on work. I just felt cranky for no reason at all. Instead of staying between shifts I took a few hours out and got out my iPod (which rose from the dead to begin working again) and laid down listening to music. It was amazing to just sit and hear everything. I spend so much time jumping through tracks and taking in music while I am multitasking or driving or talking. Laying down that afternoon with those headphones did me so much good.

-Saw the Blue Man Group with dad last week. It was really good. Very unique. It is honestly really hard to describe the whole thing. More comedy than I was expecting.

-A trip to the grocery store…

Check out lady: That will be [insert amount of purchase] please.

Me: *Writes check and hands it to her with my ID*

Lady: *Gives back ID.* I won’t need it unless it asks me to check it.

Me: Do you need that computer to tell you to check my ID? I am writing a check.

Lady: *Looks perturbed and insists on giving me back my ID while she runs the check through the register*

Me: *Looking annoyed*

Lady: Ok, it is asking for it.

Me: *Handing the ID over again* No matter what the computer says it is probably a good idea to check the ID. It could be anyone writing this check.

Lady: I do what it tells me too.

Me: I see that.

Kansas Fans – The Jinx Is On

// November 21st, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Thoughts

Kansas Fans got the dreaded SI jinx laid at their doorstep with the (so far) addition that seems to be a dagger in the heart of midwestern teams.

The 2003 Chiefs were riding high with a powerful offense that put them in the spotlight as a favorite to compete in the Superbowl. Until (so far) got a hold of them…

The Moment

// November 20th, 2007 // No Comments » // Thoughts

I didn’t take this picture, but I wish I could say I did.

This is such a great example of “the moment” in a photograph. I saw this on Facebook. It is a photograph of a good friend of mine and former coworker in Springfield. This is Tanya with her niece.

Trip To Columbia

Some snapshots and photographs from the Missouri\Texas A&M game. You can move around the pictures and double click to make them bigger or double click again to go to the set. Pretty cool I think.

Bits And Pieces

// November 3rd, 2007 // No Comments » // Thoughts

- Very close to releasing a new ZC Photography site. Really excited about the change.

- Huge Kansas City football game last night. Rockhurst beats #1 Blue Springs South to set up a Blue Springs\Rockhurst playoff game at Dasta Stadium this coming Friday. I am going to attempt to talk to someone over at RHS and get on the field for photographs. I think it would be fun.

- Got a raise at work. Even better than the raise is the fact that it is being applied to the start of September retro fashion.

- Spoon’s “Ga Ga Ga Ga” album is just great. Every minute of it is fun to listen too.

Reaching Back

// November 2nd, 2007 // No Comments » // Thoughts

I have been trying to organize everything around me. Some aspects have had more success than others. The photo archive on my hard drive is about to leap past the 10k mark. I am going to get an external drive and begin shuffling some of my work on to that. Maybe two of them to play it safe? Thank god for Lightroom. Without it all of these files would be one big mess.

After watching some TV with the guys I went upstairs and start going through a lot of the old photographs. A lot of good things can fall through the cracks. What seems like a great picture one day can look blah after a good nights sleep and vice versa. I have to constantly look at work and re-look at it to get a consensus of how I feel about it overall and not only at that one single moment. Here are a few things that got lost in the shuffle. The painting and the black and white of the downtown building stand out to me over everything else. How did I miss those?
