One guy I know was talking to another person who was nervous about having to take a drug test for a potential job. Below is the advice that was given…
1. Buy three large three poppy seed muffins. Save the receipt.
2. On a stovetop, bring approximately one quart of water to an active boil.
3. Once the water is boiling, add a can of Progresso chicken and garlic soup. It has to be Progresso, and it has to be chicken and garlic.
4. Add NO FEWER than 10 cloves of the freshest garlic you can find. Then add NO LESS than 2 tblspns of oregano, 2 of rosemary, and 2 of sage.
5. Cover the pot and let simmer.
6. Build a time machine.
7. Don’t start using drugs.
8. Enjoy your soup and muffins.
Did some downtown shooting the other day. I was on foot most the time which is fun. The amount of walking I am doing since moving to KC has gone up exponentially. If I have the time to do it I decide to walk instead of take my car. I hear exercise is good for you even though ZachIsHere.com has still never found respectable, peer reviewed, empirical evidence to believe all that talk. Just throwing a few out for now.
Chiefs Charity event at Lunar Bowl last Tuesday. The kids had lots of fun and it was cool seeing some players and coaches. Pictures below.
Went to a few Royals games. The first one ended up being a brutal shalacking 7-3. The final score makes the whole thing sound a lot closer than it really was. The second game however decided the series and saw the Royals win 17-8. It was a blast to see them take the game and the series against St. Louis.
The job search has been moving a bit slow on my account. There are a lot of possibilities floating around that are not coming realities fast enough. While that is trying to work itself out there have been a few epic “Flavor Ice Warrior” matches. In a tale of competitive nature’s getting out of control to make games out of things that are stupid we tap into our huge flavor ice collection and see who can eat one the fastest…
Bloc Party? Fantastic. The Uptown was a perfect venue for the group’s impressive set. Kele brings a great energy to the stage and the drummer is just insane. I have never seen a group of their kind so driven by the drums.
Bloc Party was the highlight of the evening but I expected them to put on a good show. The quality of the openers was surprising. Bloc Party brought along two more London based groups in the Maccabees and the Noisette’s. The Maccabees (who have a very impressive website) came on stage first. The first thing you notice is how young they are. The second thing you notice is how talented they are. The lead singer in particular showed a comfort on stage that was impressive. Their sound is actually quite similar to the headliners sound. A brighter and quirkier version. Below is a video for their song “First Love” you can also check out some more of their videos for the songs “About Your Dress” and “Precious Time“.
I didn’t connect as much with the Noisette’s but they had really unique personalities. The lead singer has an intense Shirley Manson type style that takes over the show. The drummer goes about his business in this trance like state. It really is a sight watching this group go to work.
BJ and I walked out of the show pretty drained. People were handing out all kinds of fliers and I grabbed at one and read it as we walked to his car. A few seconds later I started laughing and jumping around. It turns out Ozma is coming to Kansas City to play at the Grand Emporium in July. Thats right Ozma. I have written on here before about how much I enjoy this group. That will certainly be something to look forward too.
Monday will be a big one. I am trying to seal a possible employment opportunity that could be pretty big and that evening Bloc Party will be at the Uptown.
Thanks to my good friend Joel for being my guinea pig while I tried some ideas out. It was pretty late and the guy wanted to go to bed but I kept hounding him. I have to say, this could possibly be one of my favorite photographs.
Went to Davey’s Uptown the other night with some friends to catch Destination Go. The guys asked me if I would be willing to get a few shots of their group. I believe they were a bit surprised when I ended up getting almost 400. The more I work in weird adverse conditions the more I am getting the hang of making something manageable out of them. A few bands, a few drinks, and some good music. Here are some photographs I liked from the show.
