The downtown picture thing went well. Seems they had a pretty good turn out. I would like to say that I took some amazing pictures but I didn’t feel that my best work came out Friday night. The pictures I submitted were not bad in the least but, I have done better. Maybe I am overly critical. The hour time limit was more of a factor than I thought it would be. Cool experience overall, I should know in the next few days if anything became of the photos.

I haven’t gone out all that much in the past few months. Just hasn’t interested me like it used to but lately my coworkers have been dragging me out a little more. Wound up at the Boogie late Friday evening. It was so crowded but its always a funny experience. I realized I “kind of know” everyone. I don’t know everyone very well but I can identify a majority of the people in some small way they are connected to me. It is strange because there are so many people that are “sort of” familiar. You search your own little archive to remember how you know them and then you play the game trying to figure out if they will remember you enough to strike up a conversation that isn’t awkward.

Kareem and I are going to see a movie this afternoon…lllaaaazzzzyyyy weekend. I love it.

Coming Up

Friday evening there is a digital photography competition going on downtown. $5 to enter with a $100 prize. Everyone gets an hour to take shots downtown and after that some judges go over the work and choose the winner. Seems like Randy Bacon is doing the whole thing. I will give it my best shot. Pun intended. Thanks to Dan for putting a flyer up for this at Geekerz; I probably wouldn’t know about the whole thing otherwise. I shot Brandon Crain an e-mail so it seems he will make it out. Hopefully he brings along his friend Jason who I have been following for a while now. JasonPix puts out a very consistent stream of quality work.

Saturday afternoon I will be going to a small political type meeting of Barack Obama supporters. Should be interesting. I fear that this crowd and canidate could be a tad too liberal for me but I like what I see from this campaign so far. We shall see what comes from it. The world is shaped by people who show up. Right?

Dry Land Is Not A Myth!

In addition to needing more portrait work I have really wanted to do more landscapes. Southwest Missouri has some stunning land but I have found it hard to get to the good stuff. I am not a big fan of going on to people’s personal property to get the shots I want. Alot of people make it pretty tough to get on their land even if you set the morality of the whole thing aside and try to enter. I was talking to a chef at work and it turns out he has 200 acres of land. He asked me if I did nature type stuff. I told him I love doing landscapes but have never had much intrest in shots of actual animals. He told me about this land and how he would love some shots of it. He kept trying to sell the idea of me making the trip but little did he know he had me at “I have 200 acres.”

Monday Monday. Can’t Trust That Day

// March 26th, 2007 // No Comments » // Thoughts

Trying to keep active. I got some great shots late last night that I will find a way to get on here soon enough. Really interesting shots of a liqueur store believe it or not. It is such a nice day the fresh air has been a real boost to everyone in the house.

4:00 – Shooting with Steve at a few soccer games. He has the inside track on that whole world. I need to brush up on my “live action” photography. Did I say brush up? I mean get a basic hold of.

7:30 – The “Highland Swingers” my work’s softball team begins play tonight. I won’t be playing but will be out with others in support. “Team Cocktail” will be well represented.

In the wee hours of Monday morning I watched the movie “Hoosiers”. It really is incredible that I had never seen the film when so many people regard it as the best sports movie ever made. Very enjoyable from start to finish.

Have a good day folks, and pass four times before you shoot. If you are interested in more basketball heroics check out this video below. What an epic ending.

Crash And Burn

I am posting this from Thomas’ computer right now because my own machine passed away today. It just didn’t have the will to go on, no heart. The hard drive is safe and intact which is the most important thing. I still have all the info.

This could make for slow times around the website while I get this figured out and will no doubt delay a lot of photography work. I will try and make something work out.
