Hush Hush

So there is a wedding I am serving for on New Year’s Eve. It is quite the event; a bigger production than most banquets at the Country Club. I wanted to do some pictures because the room looks very nice, great atmosphere.

Only I can’t.

I have been told there will be no cameras at this wedding reception. At all. Why the super secret privacy? Turns out the bride to be is on the left hand side of this image.

Should be interesting.

Two Days And A Look Forward

// December 26th, 2006 // 3 Comments » // Thoughts

My “Christmas Break” was two days.

I can’t help but feel lucky as those two days were good ones. I always have a good time with my family, I couldn’t be any less interested about the whole gift thing with Christmas. It isn’t that I didn’t appreciate everything I got. What I recieved was surprising and a lot of it will prove to be enjoyable or helpful in a lot of ways but…it has been a long time since I felt like that is what it was all about. I give some, I get some. Thats great…I enjoy hanging out with people more. It was very clear from my trip that the family business is doing great. There has been a change of culture and a breath of fresh air that is obvious and exciting. Lots of great people who work very hard.

Spent a lot of time with a few old friends. I realized that the network of social contacts I have in Kansas City is large and diverse. The more planning that gets done for KC the more it looks like it will be an incredible change filled with opportunity. There will be more on this in the next few months…

Thinking About Switching…

Maybe they cost more money. Maybe they cost a lot more money. I believe it is about time.

Merry (Early) Christmas

I am working tonight and then heading back home for Christmas with Megan. I hope all of you have a great holiday season full of friends, family, and fun.

And who knows? Maybe David Bowie will randomly come by your house. Awkward.

Kenna is supposed to be coming out with a new album. At the very least the single “Out Of Control” that has been available on Kenna’s MySpace page and featured in the new PSP commercials should be out on iTunes but it isn’t. I have been looking forward to new work from Kenna since 2003. What is going on around here? In the mean time I found a video of the group’s drummer working in the studio. I am not a professional but one thing became clear to me as I watched this. Being the drummer in Kenna is not easy.

Freaking Out Man

This is a small preview.
I am not going to act like this was easy. I am not a programmer. I work to know just enough to get by. This stupid little flash slideshow thing took hours upon hours to master. It even came with a guide that laid every step out in terms that couldn’t be simplified anymore.

It is ridiculous. Do you realize how much goes into this stupid little picture thing?

I purchased it and downloaded some flash tools so I could edit it as needed. I installed the scripts extension in Flash 8 so Flash knew what the hell I was talking about when I started doing things in realtion to SlideShowPro. I took a large set of my photos and resized them so they would look neat in the little box. Except they didn’t look neat in the little box, the pictures were not aligned right.

Why were they not aligned right? It is in the code somewhere. Maybe in the layers of flash that makes no sense. Maybe it was in the way I sized the pictures. Maybe it was in the endless lines of XML code that the player reads to know what pictures to show. At that point all the work was for not. Resizing, titling, writing out absolute paths, creating perfect XML coding, aligning the correct links to each photo.

No worries though. I got it. Days….hours…later it has all made sense. Just so it can be easier for people to view and in the end purchase the photos.

Enjoy this stupid little slide show because I am pretty sure it aged me a good 10-15 years. It will be a great tool but jeez. I need to go outside or something. All photos are from shoots I have made in the past that were decent but never got thrown into public. I probably display 1 photo for every 100 I take so there is some decent stuff just sitting on my hard drive.
