These past few weeks I have had my eye on a new show. It is called “Frisk Dingo” from the same people who wrote Sealab 2021. I have no idea where they got the name but the cartoon on Adult Swim is very funny. It has a humor that is less obvious and more subdued than 2021 was but the use of timing and intelligent humor is very similar.

The show follows the main character Killface. KF is a super villian hellbent on destroying the world with “The Annihalatrix” a huge piece of technology made just for that task. The only problem is the Annialatrix is in a state of disrepair and he needs 12 billion dollars to fix it so he can execute his plans. He is basically a bad guy with a funding problem. In one episode he and his crew enter an innovation contest with a large cash prize. Right before he goes on another contestant announces that his invention is an Ant Farm keyboard. I got the header for this post from his reaction.

Below is a small trailer used before the show aired. In it you see him working with 3 business students he kidnapped and forced to draw up marketing plans for his fund raising.

Congratulations to national basketball power house Oral Roberts for defeating Kansas in Thursday’s “Clash Of The Titans” in Lawrence.

Oral Roberts Beats Kansas

A real hat tip goes to the Missouri State Volleyball team. A group of us went to see their 1,000th victory as a program. That number is second only to UCLA in terms of NCAA wins over time.

Today Michigan plays Ohio St. I am pretty sure the pregame for this started last Wednesday. This is a huge college football game and deserves a lot of media coverage but has the way in which this game has been hyped a good thing? Lets not worry too much right now about if this game live up to the hype. I wonder if any game could live up to that form of media blitz. You could have a great game of football between two great programs but if amazing acts of athleticism or legendary moments don’t happen it will unfairly be viewed as a flop. At the end of the day, it is college kids playing football. Good luck to Michigan, I would love to see them win today.

According to a UCPD press release, Tabatabainejad went limp and refused to exit as the officers attempted to escort him out. The release also stated Tabatabainejad “encouraged library patrons to join his resistance.” At this point, the officers “deemed it necessary to use the Taser in a “drive stun’ capacity.”

“He wasn’t cooperative; he wouldn’t identify himself. He resisted the officers,” Young said.

Neither the video footage nor eyewitness accounts of the events confirmed that Tabatabainejad encouraged resistance, and he repeatedly told the officers he was not fighting and would leave.

Tabatabainejad was walking with his backpack toward the door when he was approached by two UCPD officers, one of whom grabbed the student’s arm. In response, Tabatabainejad yelled at the officers to “get off me.” Following this demand, Tabatabainejad was stunned with a Taser.

But according to a study published in the Lancet Medical Journal in 2001, a charge of three to five seconds can result in immobilization for five to 15 minutes, which would mean that Tabatabainejad could have been physically unable to stand when the officers demanded that he do so.

This video really is incredible. It is from Powell Library at UCLA. Campus security was during random “BruinID” checks and this kid didn’t have one so they asked him to leave. He wasn’t complying to officers were sent to the scene and what happens next is in this video. There is questionable language in the video.

When you first see it you think “wow, that was rough” and then it keeps going and going. First of all, this kid is the wrong. There is no reason to comply with the officer’s instructions. Having said that, there are a lot of things that are wrong with this picture.

- This kid wasn’t a threat. He was handcuffed behind his back with 4 officers around. He wasn’t acting violently he was just a dead weight. They could of easily taken him out of that building in the position he was in.

- Why keep barking the orders at him to stand? Do you think tasing this person was going to make him more rational? Again, take him out of the library.

- The continued use of the taser when the crowd moved out into the hall was completely senseless.

- Didn’t you love it at the end when other students are objecting to this terrible situation that an officer says he is going to tase the kid in the white shirt?

I have done a good amount of shopping this past month. Reading the fine print is always interesting whether you are checking out a new hot deal, researching a product you want or clipping a coupon to save a few bucks…

One thing always rings true…
