I learned how to make baklava. There was a strange moment when Amy was describing the ingredients that go in the dessert she mentioned using “all spice” yet when she said it I heard “old spice”. I have never been so happy to be wrong.

An amazing look into the early years of some websites.
I remember using services like Prodigy long ago before really experiencing the internet. We were on AOL when one of the upgrades features the ability to get on the “World Wide Web”. It was such a hodge podge at first I remember my dad saying “You could be on there forever going in circles while not actually doing anything”.
He could still be right.

Big new out of Kansas City. One of the anchors of one of the leagues best offensive lines and offenses has retired. He indicated in a radio interview today that his body is not healing like he would have liked during this off season and he would rather bow out than give his team and its fans a sub par performance.
This is suprising news to a lot of Chiefs fans who have been feeling good about this offseason with a decent draft and the signing of Ty Law. It even looked like we were going to enter training camp drama free with all picks signed until this news.
There are a lot of “chicken littles” who are proclaiming the sky is falling. Generally the loss of a tackle wouldn’t send football fans running for the hills but Kansas City was shown the importance of Willie Roaf last year when their offense struggled with his absensce. No matter what happens he will be missed. He is an incredible player that dominated at his position working to keep Trent Green’s uniform spotless.
But I don’t think this is going to go down as badly as some people think…
It all has to do with preperation. Throwing someone into the tackle position in the middle of the season is a tough position to be put in. Offensive lines need time to gel. There is so much communication that goes a long with the position that is already a difficult one. There is a reason LT’s make a lot more money than RT’s do.
When you get a chance to be told you are the guy or you are in a position battle to be the starter on the football team and are able to prepare for that through out training camp and the preseason it goes a long to way.
Roaf’s replacment will have big shoes to fill and challenges to overcome but he will also be put in a position to suceed.
Watch how good a guy plays when he is not thrown into the fire…
Just in case you are curious; Larry Johnson’s yards per carry without roaf is 4.7. Not to shabby…
This offense will make things happen.

Tonight I am going to have a laid back dinner with some friends and then I am going to do a few things that have needed to be done for a long time.
Cleaning and Organizing My Room – The cleaning part isn’t that much of an issue but the orgazinzation is. I really to map out where I want things to go and how. That will save me a tin of time on cleaning of course. I have so many small and miscilaneous things. It is a big challenge for me to sort those out in physical space in a sensible
Doing Laundry – Working in the same clothes day in and day out left me doing a very small laundry rotation so I want to really clean a lot of clothes and get them set instead of doing little small loads a lot to last me whatever is happening in the next day or two.
Money Tracking System – I was doing pretty well with this for a while and I got away from it. I am going to reinstall Microsoft Money and track my expenses. It does a good job of really showing you how your money is flowing (or isn’t flowing) over the long run.
These are my goals over the next few days.

After getting home from work Jayne gave me a call and asked me if I wanted to give blood with her. I didn’t have anything better to do at the time so she rolled on through and picked me up.
By giving blood you got a free ticket to a Springfield Cards game and a burger. Yes, thats right..Hardees was there with this little setup making free burgers for everone it was pretty cool. I had never given blood before and I felt suprised by the amount they actually take. The guy that did the procedure told me it was around 10% of blood you have in your body. This was good news because I wasn’t really interested in them taking all of my blood. I needed to keep some for myself. The whole thing was painless for me, no problems.
Aside from the baseball tickets and burgers I was really impressed by the Community Blood Center. It was very clean and everyone was very nice and enjoyable to be around. Great operation. I hope that my small contribution could help someone down the line. Check out the link below…
