David: Those girls think they are so funny…

Micheal B: So funny I forgot to laugh.

Micheal S: I actually did remember to laugh but didn’t because it wasn’t funny.

David: Like the irish potato famine.

Micheal S: When they said that it literally was the irish potato famine.

Kyle

An old friend of mine Kyle “Z Man” passed away a few nights ago. Died in his sleep for reasons that are at this time unknown. Twenty two years old; healthy and athletic. When things like this happen it always seems like people misrepresent their relationship with someone. Kyle and I were not best friends. We played Lacrosse together for a few years and spent time with all the mutual friends we had. He was always smiling and he was very friendly to me. I felt an immediate connection because of our similar senses of humor. I think it is unfortunate out paths didn’t get to cross more during the past few years. Some of my best friends were very close with him one being his cousin. I feel frustrated that I can’t do more for them. What do you say? There isn’t much. I dislike the feeling of helplessness these situations throw at my door because all you want to do is make people that you care for feel better. At the end of the day you can only do so much…

I have told this story a lot over the years. It is so much better for the people that were there. I will never forget hanging out with some people at Dirk’s House on the back deck. The back of Dirk’s home looks over a pretty good sized lake. We were throwing around the lacrosse ball and someone noticed some geese on the other side of the lake. Thinking it was impossible someone mentioned how impressive it would be if a person could actually peg one of those geese with a lacrosse ball. Kyle picks up a stick with the ball in the pouch and launches it. The ball goes out of sight and suddenly you heard the sound of some really pissed off geese. The guy actually made the shot that I would say was about the length of a football field with a ball that is smaller than a baseball. It was impressive and funny at the same time. A bit absurd. I am sure the geese would not have been brought up if we actually thought they would get a shalacking at the hands of Kyle.

I don’t really know where he is right now but I hope it is a good place.

This is a little late but I hope everyone had fun with friends and family. Or in my case…coworkers.

Life Is Just Flying By

// May 19th, 2006 // 1 Comment » // Thoughts

There are a lot of friends graduating from college these days. It is an exciting time for a lot of people. I have run into old friends these past few weeks. Maybe we were really close and drifted apart…maybe it was too hard to keep close…maybe…who knows. Things happen. It has been great catching up and hearing what is going on their life. It isn’t always what they wanted or what they set out to do. I am consistently amazed to see how much people have grown over the years. The shy stand offish kid that is now the articulate man that landed his dream job. The insecure emotionally charged girl that is getting married and moving to make a new life for herself.

Then there are folks who have been around me my whole life going through the same thing. I couldn’t be anymore proud of my friends hard dedication being rewarded. They have worked hard to put themselves in positions to do the things they love.

Everyone’s path is very different but at the end of the day special people make things happen.

I….Enjoy The NBA?

// May 19th, 2006 // No Comments » // Thoughts

I have never been a big fan of the NBA. There just wasn’t much to hold me when it came to flippinf through the channels. I enjoy a lot of different sports and I couldn’t find a way to enjoy this one. That is until this year’s playoffs began.

It seems like every night I can turn on the TV to catch a very competitive game. Not only a competitive game but a game that is very exciting. The NBA feels like it has upped its energy level and there are more teams that are just that…teams. I have been backing the Mavs and Cavs during this little ride. Best of luck to them in their respective game 7 matches.
