Refreshing…

// April 30th, 2005 // No Comments » // Thoughts

I had a really good time last night. Jessi and I had dinner at Flame then went to Gilardi’s for a few drinks. We rounded off the night by spending some time at Casa De Zach. It was a good deal because it didn’t feel like a date. It was very natural and comfortable. We are going to be spending some more time together soon. It is nice not feeling like you are “proving” yousrself to someone. We shall see how things pan out…

That Class Is Full Also? Jeez…

// April 29th, 2005 // No Comments » // Thoughts

It looks like I will be living in the same apartment for a while longer. I had some plans to move in with various other people but they all fell through. It is a one bedroom so sometimes it gets a little lonlely and the place is on the expensive side but those are my only complaints. The place and the location rocks so its all good.

I registered for fall classes. The schedule was made for maximum flexibility with a job. The classes will be…

  • Sociology – Urban Studies
  • Internet Application Development II
  • Digital Photography
  • The last Math class of my life.

Just Eat Your Food You Freak

I was up pretty early this morning so I thought I would get a really unhealthy breakfast. Those weird commercials with the big headed “Burger King Guy” and Hootie singing the catchy song made me want to try one of those big omelette sandwhiches. I ordered my meal and sat down. A middle aged guy sat very close to me; little did I know I was about to witness one of the strangest meal traditions ever.

This guy sits down and puts his tray on the table. He takes two napkins and folds them in this very strange form making them almost oragami like. After that he takes the sandwhich and puts it on the upper left hand corner of his table. Adjusting it a few times for reasons unbeknownst to me. He then takes 5 little round ketchup tubs he had prepared and empties them out on the sheet of paper on the tray. I usually wouldn’t think anything of this except for the fact that he emptied each one in a pattern. When I looked down I saw that the blobs of ketchup were the same design as you would see on the 5 side of a die. After the ketchup was on the trey he arrnaged each of the little tubs in a very tight order adjusting them a few times to be sure they lined up evenly. His fork and knife were lined up in a perpindicular fashion in relation to the breakfast sandwhich. I also thought it was interesting he was drinking Coke in at 8 am. I was running low on time so I had to jet. Who knows what more strange things I could have seen during my time sitting next to him. I made a little picture to try and represent how the table was lined up. I think it was one of those deals where you had to be there watching him lay everything out.

On a side note the meal tasted really bad. The bread just does not match up well with the sandwhich at all. I mean c’mon…if I am going to eat something really unhealthy it might as well taste good. Am I right?

A Blog At The Brink

In the wee hours of April 28th this whole site almost died.

I have been having problems with my RSS feeds so I got a buddy guru of mine to jump in and look at it. The problem got pretty complicated and the solution was to nuke the whole thing and redo it. I grabbed all the unique content I could like someone gathering whats important when their house was burning down. Everything was blasted and rebuilt and the problem was fixed!

In other news I added a new collection to the Crockpot of Music.

ZachIsHere.com’s Crockpot of Music

I have added a new section to this ever changing hodge podge blog.

Crockpot of Music is a collection of songs that are seperated by different themes. Each theme has its own page where you can listen to the songs without downloading anything or messing with any plug-ins. It is streaming music in its most simple form. In addition to the themes I will add music that I have been listening to each month. In addition to an April ‘05 set I have 2 collections up.

More “best of” lists I am working on that will be added as time goes on include…

  • Driving Songs
  • Love Songs Pre 1990
  • Love Songs Post 1990
  • A Capella Songs
  • Cover Songs
  • Guilty Pleasures
  • Songs Everyone Knows The Words To

The list goes on but you get the idea. I imagine they will get more creative as time goes on. The popularity of the Radio Blog feature made me think this would be a fun addition people would enjoy. Hopefully you hear something new and fun. This section has been added to the top of the sidebar on the right hand side.

Another Week…

Things are dragging on. School is just not enjoyable at this point but I keep pressing on. I can’t wait to move on in my academic career. Hopefully I can keep making things work.

Jessi and I are going to dinner on Friday so that should be fun. We have a good time together and enjoy the same things. What more can you ask for? It will be interesting to see how things pan out. You never quite know which path two people end up going on.

I know this much. Summer needs to get its ass in gear.

Eggs Scrambled With Cheese And Hot Dogs?

// April 25th, 2005 // 5 Comments » // Thoughts

Most people think a culinary masterpiece cannot come from a college guy’s apartment. I may have proved the world wrong.

Late Monday night I got done studying and I found myself wanting to eat something. I had not had anything to eat since lunch. After sizing up the refrigerator I felt like the eggs were jumping out at me. I wanted to try something different and then it struck me. Why not put hot dogs with the eggs? I doubt I am the first one in hisotry to try it out but I have never heard of anyone doing that before. Things like sausage and ham are put with eggs all the time; why not a hot dog? It ended up being a pretty huge meal. Usually when I make eggs I use 3 but there were 4 in the box so I just threw the extra one in and made a huge uber egg meal.

I understand there are a lot of people who do not like hot dogs and I imagine they are repulsed right now. Sorry folks!

There are some pictures of the experiment below. Click on one of them to see an enlarged version.

Verdict: I wasn’t very sure how it would turn out but I was very impressed. The hot dogs added a great taste to the meal. If I had to do it over again I would make the chunks a lot smaller.

All this meal does is solidify my apartment as the cultural center of the midwest.

People

// April 25th, 2005 // 2 Comments » // Thoughts

It is amazing how many people do not understand how things they do have effects on people other than themselves. Would it kill them to think a few steps ahead or take their mind out of their own little carnival to see that there are other folks around?

A few things…

  • If you let other people’s opinions define you then you deserve whatever conclusion they may come up with.
  • When you think about how bad things are and at the same time avoid thinking about what you can do to make the situation better things will just get worse. Negative circular thinking is an epidemic that has swept through college kids. It has nothing on STDs numbers wise.
  • If you have identified situations that cause you a lot of trouble and you still put yourself in them then come what may.
  • You do not say things you don’t mean when you are drunk.
  • Things usually pan out a lot better if you see things for how they are. Not how you want them to be.
  • It is not the end of the world. Trust me on this one.
